Guido Berlucchi is an Italian winery based in Borgonato, in the province of Brescia, famous for being the first winery to produce Franciacorta, the classic Italian method par excellence. Founded in 1955 by Guido Berlucchi, a descendant of the noble Lana de' Terzi family, the company immediately demonstrated a strong vocation for innovation and quality, contributing significantly to the enhancement of the territory and the spread of the culture of sparkling wine in Italy. The origins of Berlucchi date back to the 1950s, when Guido Berlucchi, fascinated by the production of sparkling wines, decided to undertake an ambitious project: to create a high-quality wine, capable of competing with the best French champagnes. The meeting with the winemaker Franco Ziliani, considered the father of Franciacorta, was crucial to the birth of this project. Ziliani, with his great experience and passion, supported Berlucchi in the creation of the first Franciacorta, sealed in bottles in 1961. Franciacorta is a sparkling wine obtained exclusively from Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Blanc grapes, grown in the vineyards of Franciacorta, a hilly area located between the lakes of Iseo and Garda. Production takes place according to the classic method, which involves a double fermentation: the first in tanks, the second in the bottle, where the wine rests on the lees for at least 18 months. Guido Berlucchi was a pioneer in the production of Franciacorta, introducing technological innovations and selecting the best grape clones, in order to obtain wines of the highest quality. Today, the company is internationally recognized as one of the leading exponents of classic method sparkling wine production in Italy. The historic Berlucchi cellar, dug ten meters deep, is a fascinating and evocative place, where the bottles rest in silence for years. In recent years, the company has invested significantly in the modernization of the winery and the sustainability of the vineyards, adopting environmentally friendly agricultural practices and increasingly focusing on the quality of the grapes. Berlucchi's vineyards extend over an area of over 100 hectares and are located in hilly areas, with southern and south-western exposure. The soil is predominantly calcareous-clayey, rich in minerals, which gives the wines great complexity and minerality. Guido Berlucchi has always been committed to protecting the environment and enhancing the territory. The company has adopted a certified environmental management system and has invested in innovative technologies to reduce the environmental impact of production.

Berlucchi 61 Franciacorta Rosè is a Metodo Classico, which means that the second fermentation takes place in the bottle, giving the wine its characteristic effervescence and complexity. It is produced with a blend of Pinot Noir (about 70%) and Chardonnay (about 30%) grapes, from the most suitable vineyards in Franciacorta. The short maceration of Pinot Noir in contact with the skins gives it its distinctive color and the typical aromas of the grape variety.

It has a powder pink or intense pink color, with golden hues. The foam is soft and smooth, with a good persistence of a faint crown and a fine and continuous perlage (bubbles), an indicator of quality. On the nose it is elegant and complex. Fresh and fruity notes are perceived, in particular small red fruits such as raspberry, wild strawberry and currant. Floral hints may also emerge, such as dog rose or hibiscus flowers, and delicate nuances of bread crust or yeast, resulting from the aging on the yeasts. On the palate it is fine, elegant, lively and full-bodied. The fruity sensations perceived on the nose are found again, often with a hint of pomegranate and red apple. It has a marked freshness and a pleasant flavor that makes it very balanced and thirst-quenching. The dosage (the amount of residual sugar) is Brut, which makes it dry but harmonious, with a persistent and clean finish. Berlucchi '61 Franciacorta Rosé is an excellent aperitif. Its versatility makes it suitable to accompany a wide range of dishes: quality cured meats and sliced meats, fish tartare, risottos, tasty first courses, even tomato-based, fish (especially shellfish and mixed fried fish), white meats, medium-aged cheeses, curiously, it also pairs very well with pizza.
