Founded in 1811 and located in the heart of the Valpolicella Classica region, in Pedemonte di San Pietro in Cariano (Verona), Santa Sofia is one of the oldest and most prestigious wineries in the Veneto region.
The company's historic headquarters are housed in the splendid 16th-century Villa Palladiana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Led for over fifty years by the Begnoni family, Santa Sofia combines tradition, elegance, and innovation, showcasing the native Veronese grape varieties—Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella—and producing wines that best represent the authenticity of the terroir.

Santa Sofia's Valpolicella Classico DOC is an elegant and versatile red, an authentic expression of the Veronese terroir. Produced with the native Corvina, Rondinella, and Molinara varieties grown in the hillside vineyards of Valpolicella Classica, this wine reflects the winery's tradition and quality. Founded in 1811 and located in the historic Villa Palladiana designed by Andrea Palladio, Santa Sofia is now run by the Begnoni family, who have preserved and promoted the region's winemaking heritage since 1964. Vinification involves fermentation in stainless steel, followed by 18 months of aging in oak barrels and a further period in the bottle, to preserve the freshness and fruitiness typical of Valpolicella.

The wine has a bright ruby ​​color with purple highlights that highlight its youth and vivacity. On the nose, it offers an aromatic bouquet of cherry, raspberry, red currant, and delicate floral notes of violet, accompanied by light spicy nuances of cinnamon and a hint of roasted coffee. On the palate, it is fresh, balanced, and medium-bodied, with soft tannins and good acidity that ensures a long finish. Perfect with appetizers, pasta dishes with light sauces, white meats, and fresh cheeses. Its versatility also makes it ideal as an aperitif or to accompany Mediterranean dishes.
