Set in the Mezzane valley since 1883 Massimago has forged a strong bond in the history of Valpolicella. Camilla Rossi Chauvenet, Young guardian and creator of Massimago, relaunched and renewed the company taking the reins in 2003, which from a sweet country house has become an atelier, a creative laboratory, starting to produce organic wines since 2008, obtaining the certification since 2014. It has been growing for 19 years and stands out from other wineries for its clear identity. The cellar has grown slowly. From a simple garage it has become a real cellar that allows you to make micro vinifications and blends to best enhance the quality of the grapes. In 2017 the area dedicated to the processing and refining of wine was expanded to finally reach the maximum potential by exploiting the force of gravity to move the masses from the fermentation area to the storage area, located in two cellars, the one dedicated to barriques and tonneaux and the barrel cellar under the manor house for the most important wines.

Massimago Amarone della Valpolicella is a dry red wine, certified organic from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella grapes, grown on the ridge of the hill, tracing the indissoluble link between the soul of this mineral and calcareous soil and the long evolution of its wine. At an altitude of 300-350 meters, with a density of 5000 plants per hectare, with Guyot training and after careful selection on the plant, the best bunches are harvested by hand and placed in small boxes. They are left to dry in the loft for about 90 days, where an accurate control of temperature and humidity is maintained. After pressing the grapes, a cold maceration of 5 days begins. Alcoholic fermentation is very slow and lasts about a month. The malolactic fermentation takes place in oak barrels of 20 hectoliters. The refinement lasts 30 months in wood plus 12 subsequent months in the bottle

Massimago Amarone della Valpolicella has an intense red color. On the nose balsamic notes, oriental spices and Mediterranean scrub (mint, rosemary, thyme). On the palate the wine is aromatic and full, with notes of red cherry fruit and black peppercorns, rose and hill flowers. Rich and greedy finish. From minimal residual sugars, for an austere finish, with delicate savory and refreshing notes.
