In 1904 Alfredo Prunotto created the Cantina Sociale "Ai Vini delle Langhe". In 1922 the winery began to have serious economic problems and was placed into liquidation. In those years the young Alfredo Prunotto met and married Luigina, with whom he decided to take over the Cantina Sociale "Ai Vini delle Langhe", giving it his name. Thanks to the family's passion, the winery gradually becomes famous and begins to export Barolo and Barbaresco. In 1956, Alfredo Prunotto decided to retire from business and gave the cellar to his friend Beppe Cola, in 1961 Prunotto began to observe new wine production lands, on these lands the Barolo Bussia and the Barbera d'Alba Pian Romualdo were born. In 1972, Ugo della Piana, an architect, designed the new winery, which would be built near Alba where the company headquarters are still located today. In 1989, the Antinori family began its collaboration with the Prunotto company, initially dealing with distribution and then, in 1994, with the retirement of the Colla brothers, also directly with production, in 1990 Albiera Antinori gave greater attention to the best vineyards among which, the Bussia vineyard, one of the most renowned in the Barolo area, the Costamiòle vineyard in Agliano, for the production of Nizza, and land in Calliano for the study and analysis of new vines such as Albarossa and Syrah.

This Barolo Prunotto was born in a complex vintage, with adverse weather conditions and difficult vineyard management. Nonetheless, it turns out to be a pleasant surprise: the favorable end of the season and the early spring meant that the grapes vinified were of absolute quality. Prunotto is a Barolo DOCG from the vineyards of the Monforte, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga areas. Here the soils are particularly rich in calcareous clays and elements such as magnesium and manganese.

Barolo Riserva Bussia comes from Nebbiolo grapes, the latter arriving in the cellar and being pressed and only 70% destemmed. The maceration, which took place in stainless steel tanks, lasted approximately 8 days at a maximum temperature of 30°C. The malolactic fermentation was completed before the end of winter. The maturation took place in French oak of different capacities for 18 months and, subsequently, for 12 months in steel. The wine aged 36 months in the bottle before being released on the market.

Garnet red in colour, Prunotto has a broad and complex aroma with hints of violets and undergrowth and envelops the palate in a full and velvety flavour.
