Cascina Chicco was born in 1950 when Ernesto Faccenda bought a hectare of vineyard in Canale, in the heart of the Roero for the production of wine for his Salsamenteria shop, producing Nebbiolo and Barbera both in demijohns and in bulk as a custom of the time. With the arrival of his son Federico, the winery begins the journey that takes it to the present day. Federico begins the production of wine for bottling and above all dictates the new path that will lead the winery to have a production philosophy that was avant-garde at the time: respect for traditions and the territory, safeguarding the environment that hosts them. Then comes the qualitative leap in production when Marco and Enrico, Federico's sons, work alongside their father in the production, experimenting in courageous and unusual projects at the time. They were among the first to make Nebbiolo sparkling wine. During these years the winery was modernized with new technologies and numerous vineyards were purchased in the most suitable areas of the Roero. The winery is almost completely built under the hill and is an example for environmental sustainability, such as the woodlands and hazelnut groves located near the vineyards. In the vineyard no chemical herbicides are used but organic farming techniques are used, green manure, integrated pest control and the sowing of essences between the rows.

Barolo Rocche di Castelletto Cascina Chicco is produced with Nebbiolo grapes grown in Monforte d'Alba in the Ginestra area, famous for the quality of Nebbiolo da Barolo, among the best. The vines have a south-west, west exposure and rest on a clayey-limestone soil. The harvest is carried out by specialized personnel and exclusively by hand; the grapes are placed in small boxes to preserve their integrity. The choice of the bunches is very accurate and the yield is very low. Fermentation lasts 15 days and takes place in small steel tanks with repeated pumping over for adequate extraction of the color. Maceration continues even after fermentation, for a total period of 40 - 45 days. Aging takes place in Slavonian oak barrels and then continues first in steel and then in the bottle. About 7 years after the harvest, the wine is ready to be put on the market.

Barolo Rocche di Castelletto Cascina Chicco has a beautiful garnet ruby red and immediately manifests a fascinating complexity with hints of ripe red fruit, licorice, spices, cocoa. On the palate it is full-bodied with elegant tannins and a persistent finish.
