Roccanivo is an aged grappa produced by the Berta Distilleries from selected Barbera pomace in the typical area of Monferrato in Piedmont. To the nose Roccanivo grappa is strongly aromatic with hints of marasca cherry, berries, chocolate and vanilla. An excellent smooth drink to sip and savor passionately.
The Berta Distilleries are connected to the fascinating history of the homonymous family through four generations in a land that has always had a wine vocation, from the forefather Francesco born in 1866 to the descendants of Paolo Berta to whom we owe the foundation in 1947 of the first distillery in Nizza Monferrato, in the province of Asti in Piedmont. Four generations loyal to artisanal grappa, which have resisted the temptations of the industrial market, and have instead invested energy and resources in research applied to traditional production techniques. Today the expanded and renewed wine cellars of the Berta Distilleries are of the highest quality, making them a leader in the export of grappa in 60 countries around the world.
Aged grappa Roccanivo by Berta comes from a careful selection of Barbera pomace among the local Monferrato winemakers, which are then distilled in copper steam boilers according to the discontinuous method. The 8 years of rest in tonneau both of Allier and of Tronçais exalt the taste of vanilla and aromas of pastry, with hints of cherry, marasca cherry and candied figs. It's a soft, complex grappa that reflects the craftsmanship and the passion for traditions typical of the Berta family.
