Emilio Primo Rosso

For generations, the Fuselli family has carried on the philosophy of Terre del Marchesato, a winery that authentically embodies the Bolgheri tradition. With Papeo, Maurizio wanted to celebrate a place from his childhood: Poggio Papeo, a hill between Bolgheri and Monteverdi where, as a boy, he accompanied his grandfather Emilio to collect firewood. This emotional bond has now translated into a wine that symbolizes their roots.

Emilio Primo Rosso is the result of careful manual harvesting, with careful selection of the grapes in the vineyard and in the cellar. The grapes are vinified in temperature-controlled steel vats, followed by a 5–10-day maceration to best extract aromas, color, and structure. The wine is aged for approximately 12 months in second-use French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation also takes place, and then for 6 months in bottle before release.

A deep ruby ​​red with a splendid density, it offers rich aromas: ripe red fruits, vanilla, spices, a light note of bell pepper, toasted notes, and ground coffee. Fresh nuances of chinotto and tamarind also emerge. On the palate, it is balanced, with velvety tannins, excellent acidity, and a substantial structure. Perfect with ravioli with meat sauce, lasagna, tortelli, peposo, wild boar in white sauce, roe deer, stews, roast potatoes, cauliflower flan, or leeks. Also excellent with medium-aged cheeses.
