The soils of Bolgheri have a great variability in a rather limited area. There are alluvial soils, of fluvial origin, with round pebbles deposited by the ancient waterways. The name Bolgheri Sassicaia derives from this characteristic. There are soils of marine origin, with Aeolian sands, limestones and clays. And again volcanic rocks from the Metalliferous Hills to the east. Thus we find clayey, clayey-sandy or sandy-clayey, clayey-silty, or completely sandy soils. Water reserves and nutrients vary greatly from one area to another. These soils are located on terraces at different levels, so that the general structure manages on average to maintain moisture in depth, returning it in drought periods.
Three major areas can be identified: the hills, the intermediate area and the area closest to the sea. On the hills there are the oldest alluvial deposits. The pebbly flood is also characterized by a good presence of iron oxide. Below the river deposits are younger and mix with the marine ones in the west. The microclimate of Bolgheri also benefits from a strong brightness: in addition to the direct sunlight, there is a reflection effect from the sea mirror located to the west. The average annual temperature is around 14 ° C, with 18.6 ° C from April to September, 7.5 ° C from December to January and 24 ° C in August. The average annual rainfall is about 600 mm., With statistically well distributed rainfall: more abundant during the vegetative development, less frequent during the ripening of the fruit, then abundant again after the harvest. The driest month is July.

Delicate, fresh and fruity wine, ideal as a wine for the whole meal and for daily consumption. Excellent compromise between structure and smoothness.
