Teanum is a winery with deep roots in the Apulian territory, specifically in the province of Foggia. The name "Teanum" derives from the ancient Roman city of Teanum Apulum, a historical reference that underlines the link with the winemaking tradition of the region. Teanum has two cellars, one in San Severo (the founders' hometown) and one in San Paolo di Civitate. Annual production is around 1.5 million bottles, distributed in Italy and in approximately 30 countries worldwide. The company has invested in modern winemaking technologies, in order to guarantee the highest quality of its wines, while maintaining a link with traditional techniques. San Severo Rosso DOP is a red wine produced in the San Severo area, in Puglia, by Cantine Teanum, a winery with a solid tradition in the territory. This wine, in particular in its "Favugne" expression, represents an authentic interpretation of the Apulian terroir, with a focus on the Montepulciano grape variety. Teanum's San Severo Rosso is obtained mainly from pure Montepulciano grapes. The vineyards are located in the Tavoliere delle Puglie, a vast plain that offers ideal soil and climate conditions for growing vines. The soil is predominantly clayey-calcareous, with good sun exposure and ventilation, factors that contribute to the optimal ripening of the grapes and the concentration of aromas and polyphenols. The vinification of San Severo Rosso di Teanum follows a rigorous protocol that aims to preserve the varietal characteristics of Montepulciano and enhance the peculiarities of the terroir. The grapes, harvested at optimal ripeness, are vinified in red with maceration of the skins for a variable period, in order to extract color, tannins and aromas. The refinement takes place in stainless steel tanks, to preserve the freshness and integrity of the fruit, followed by a period of refinement in the bottle that completes its evolution. Some versions, such as the "Gran Tiati Gold Vintage Riserva", require a longer and more complex refinement, with possible passage in wood, which gives greater structure and complexity to the wine.

Intense ruby ​​red color, with purple reflections in youth that tend to garnet with aging. In the mouth it is dry, warm, with good structure and persistence. The tannins are present but well integrated, giving balance and pleasantness to the sip. The acidity is moderate and contributes to the freshness of the wine. It pairs well with robust dishes of Apulian cuisine, such as pasta with meat sauce, roasts, grilled meat, mature cheeses and cured meats.
