Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso

For over 40 years, the Russolo Farm has been producing wines from the magnificent San Quirino terroir in western Upper Friuli, notably close to the Pordenone Dolomites. It all began in the late 19th century when Giovanni Russolo made his name as a winemaker in the Pordenone area. As the generations passed and the history of Italian winemaking began, the company took shape in 1974 when Iginio and his wife Sonia purchased the San Quirino vineyards. Today, with the support of Antonella and Rino, the company faces new challenges. In a microclimate influenced by marked temperature variations, it produces elegant, distinctly aromatic, native regional wines with exceptional organoleptic clarity and harmonious flavors.

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso is made from grapes grown on alluvial soils of dolomitic limestone origin, at the foot of the Friulian Dolomites. Vinification takes place in stainless steel at a controlled temperature, with simultaneous fermentation and malolactic fermentation. After aging until bottling approximately two years after the harvest, the wine expresses all its complexity and character.

It displays a deep red color with purple highlights. The nose is intense and vinous, with herbaceous notes and hints of wild blackberry, berries, and plum, which evolve into spicy nuances with aging. On the palate, it is bold, slightly tannic, and with a pleasant bitterness, well-balanced between acidity and structure. Ideal with fatty meats, rustic traditional Friulian dishes, and game.
