A Chianti Classico that is always a guarantee. A historical label and a wine with a long tradition. The first vintage was 1928 and until 2000 it represented over the course of time the idea of Chianti Classico Riserva.
The Antinori family is dedicated to wine production for over six hundred years - since, in 1385, Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Arte Fiorentina dei Vinattieri. Today the company is managed by the Marquis Piero Antinori, with the support of the three daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia, involved in first person in the company activities. Tradition, passion and intuition have meant that today the company is one of the leading wine producers in Italy. Throughout its long history, through twenty-six generations, the Antinori family has maintained direct management with cutting-edge and sometimes courageous choices, but always maintaining the respect for the traditions and the territory unaltered. Every year, every land, every idea that you want to put in place is a new beginning, a new search for higher and higher quality margins. As Marquis Piero likes to say: "ancient roots play an important role in our philosophy, but they have never inhibited our innovative spirit." The grapes, after being de-stemmed and softly pressed, were introduced into stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of no more than 30 ° C. The maceration lasted about 20 days, during which mechanical interventions were carried out aimed at the controlled extraction of aromas, structure and sweet tannins. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, carried out in stainless steel tanks for the Sangiovese and in second and third passage barriques for the Cabernet Sauvignon, the various batches were assembled and continued their refining in wood mainly in large and partly in barrique, until spring.
Of a ruby red color with light garnet hues, the Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva presents excellent notes of wild berries, which are well linked to those spiced with cinnamon and toasted coffee, with slight hints of tobacco. On the palate it is harmonious, enveloping, with silky tannins; long and persistent in the aftertaste, where the fruity and woody notes come back to the nose.
