Originating from the Tignanello Estate, famous for its wine of the same name, this Chianti Classico Riserva remains imprinted for its strong and elegant notes of evolution such as dehydrated red fruits, spices, tobacco, and cocoa.
Tenuta Tignanello is located between the valleys of Greve and Pesa, in the heart of the Chianti Classico, between the small villages of Montefiridolfi and Santa Maria in Macerata, 30 km south of Florence. In these 127 hectares of vineyards the Antinori family has more than elsewhere expressed its production philosophy: reconciling tradition and modernity by creating wines that are authentically linked to their land of origin.
Solaia and Tignanello, the two icon wines of the estate, have been defined by the international press as "one of the most influential wines in the Italian wine history" and are a constant symbol for the Antinori family of an inexhaustible challenge, fueled by pure passion.
The grapes, after being de-stemmed and softly pressed, were introduced into stainless steel tanks where the alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of no more than 30 ° C. The maceration lasted about 20 days, during which mechanical interventions were carried out aimed at the controlled extraction of aromas, structure and sweet tannins. At the end of the malolactic fermentation, carried out in stainless steel tanks for the Sangiovese and in second and third passage barriques for the Cabernet Sauvignon, the various batches were assembled and continued their refining in wood mainly in large and partly in barrique, until spring.
Ruby red in color with slight garnet reflections, the Villa Chianti Classico Riserva 2013 presents excellent notes of wild berries, which are well linked to those spiced with cinnamon and toasted coffee, with slight hints of tobacco. On the palate it is harmonious, enveloping, with silky tannins; long and persistent in the aftertaste, where the fruity and woody notes come back to the nose.
