Thanks to the courage of Angelo Gaja, the Ca' Marcanda winery was born. The Gaja family's adventure in Tuscany began in 1996, when Angelo finally managed to purchase the property after exhausting negotiations with the previous owners, for this reason he chose Ca' Marcanda as the name of the winery, an expression of the Piedmontese dialect which can be translated as “house of endless negotiations”. The Ca' Marcanda estate, located in the locality of Santa Teresa, in the municipality of Castagneto Carducci, includes 100 hectares of rows planted between '97 and '98 on rather heterogeneous soils, characterized mostly by limestone, clay and gravel. The cultivated vines are the international ones typical of the area: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Syrah, Petit Verdot and Viognier, as well as Sangiovese and Vermentino. The grapes, surrounded by olive groves, are processed through a precise oenological approach, with aging taking place in French oak barriques.

The Promis Gaja of the Ca' Marcanda winery comes from vineyards grown on the land located in the Castagneto Carducci, on brown lands, rich in silt and clay. Aged in oak barrels for approximately 12 months, to finally conclude its fermentation in the bottle. The Promis gaja from the Ca' Marcanda winery is a mix of grapes including Sangiovese, Merlot, Syrah.
