Chianti Classico

The Badia a Coltibuono winery was founded more and less 1000 years ago, by the Vallombrosan monks, in a place of worship and meditation. In 1051, the monks of the order of Vallombrosa began to build this monastery of the "Good Harvest" by planting the first vineyards in this area at the same time. In 1810, under the Napoleonic rule, the monks were forced to leave Coltibuono. Later the property was sold through a lottery, and in 1846 it was bought by Michele Giuntini, a Florentine banker and ancestor of the current owners. Today, the sons Roberto, Emanuela and Paolo continue the work undertaken by their ancestors over a century ago.
