Caol Ila 2010 Wilson & Morgan Whisky Barrel Selection

Islay is one of the largest islands in Scotland where, fertile lands and pure water of a wonderful and unspoiled landscape caressed by the fresh breeze of the sea waters, has seen the birth of some of the best single malt whiskeys in history.

The Caol Ila distillery was founded in 1846 by Hector Henderson. In 1854 it was crossed by Norman Buchanan and in 1863 by Bulloch Lade & C. Ltd. In 1920 it was taken over by a consortium of businessmen that formed the Coal Ila Distillery Company Ltd. and in 1930 the property passed to Scottish Malt Distilleries Ltd: the distillery later came into the possession of the multinational group Diageo.

Wilson & Morgan is an independent bottler who since 1992 selects the best single malts to continue aging in ex sherry, marsala or bourbon barrels. The result is decidedly superior: young whiskeys, capable of thrilling with their sincere and sincere intensity and rare single malts in limited and numbered editions, aged up to 40 years. A collection created by connoisseurs for true enthusiasts: the intensity and genuine character of the typical production areas can be found in Wilson & Morgan whiskeys.

Smooth is brutal, with a marked oiliness; an explosion of licorice, lemon always enveloped by the sensation of smoke. Excellent to try by adding drops of fresh water that soften the impetuousness of the full grade: creamy malt sensations with floral nuances are thus manifested.
