Founded way back in 1776 in Reims, the Louis Roederer winery is among the oldest Champagne houses to remain independent and family-run. Thanks to the visionary and innovative thinking of Louis Roederer, who inherited the Maison from his uncle in 1833 and from whom it takes its name, the French winery broadened its horizons. Rather than relying on supply contracts to purchase grapes from others, it expanded its vineyards, selecting and purchasing the finest Grand Cru plots in Champagne. Louis Roederer was convinced that the true essence of a good wine resides in the land, and therefore it was important to cultivate it through "tailored viticulture." Respecting biodiversity and embracing biodynamic principles, the French winery's 240 hectares of vineyards, located at the heart of Champagne's three main terroirs, offer a rich and wide range of blends: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier are the three grape varieties that coexist on the Louis Roederer estate. Although Louis Roederer champagnes were already famous and exported worldwide, it wasn't until 1876 that the house began to gain greater prestige. At the request of Russian Tsar Alexander II, the Louis Roederer Cristal cuvée was created, still recognized today as the winery's flagship product thanks to its finesse and elegance.

Louis Roederer Collection 245 is a Champagne made from approximately 55% of the 2020 harvest. The blend features a significant proportion of Chardonnay (approximately 41%), Pinot Noir (approximately 35%), and Pinot Meunier (approximately 24%), and includes approximately 10% oak-aged reserve wines (from vintages such as 2010, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2018, and 2019) and approximately 35% Réserve Perpétuelle (started in 2012 and comprising subsequent vintages up to 2019). Secondary fermentation in the bottle was followed by a period on the lees for almost four years before disgorgement, and approximately 22% of the blend underwent malolactic fermentation. Finally, it is aged in the cellar for a total of almost 4 years (including time on the lees).
