Cantina Marramiero is a leading entity in the Abruzzo wine scene, distinguishing itself for an approach that combines rigorous winemaking principles with a profound valorization of the native terroir. Founded in 1953, the company has progressively evolved its production philosophy, orienting itself towards the creation of high-quality wines, authentic expressions of the pedoclimatic peculiarities of the region. The winery is located in the heart of the province of Pescara, in an area characterized by significant altimetric variability and a heterogeneous geological composition. The vineyards extend over hills that benefit from a temperate microclimate, with significant temperature variations between day and night, a crucial factor for the synthesis of complex aromatic compounds and for maintaining a balanced acidity in the grapes. The soils have a predominantly clayey-calcareous matrix, with variable fractions of sand and skeleton, giving the wines structure, minerality and longevity. The production philosophy of Cantina Marramiero is oriented towards the creation of wines that are an authentic expression of the Abruzzo region, with particular attention to enhancing the peculiarities of the individual crus and the different vintages. The primary objective is to produce high-quality wines, with personality, elegance and longevity, capable of competing with the excellence of the national and international wine scene. Trebbiano d'Abruzzo from Cantina Marramiero represents one of the most authoritative and qualitative expressions of this native Abruzzo vine. The company pays particular attention to the production of this white wine, aiming to enhance its freshness, aromatic complexity and structure, through meticulous management in the vineyard and an accurate winemaking process. This wine is a single-varietal, obtained from 100% Trebbiano d'Abruzzo grapes, coming from selected vineyards owned by the winery, located in hilly areas with favorable exposures and altitudes that help to preserve acidity and develop a fine and elegant aromatic profile. The soils, characterized by a predominantly clayey-calcareous composition, bring minerality and structure to the wine. The agronomic practices are oriented towards quality, with control of yields per hectare, careful management of the canopy and attention to the health of the grapes. The harvest is generally done by hand, with a selection of the bunches that reach the optimal technological and phenolic ripeness for the production of a fine white wine. The winemaking process of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo di Marramiero is marked by delicacy and precision. The grapes, after a soft pressing and a possible cryomaceration of the skins to favor the extraction of aromatic precursors, are subjected to a delicate pressing to obtain a high-quality free-run must. The alcoholic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature (generally between 16 and 18°C) to preserve the primary and secondary aromas of the grape variety. A part of the must may ferment or refine in wooden barrels of variable dimensions (barriques or tonneaux of French oak) to give greater complexity, structure and delicate tertiary notes. Malolactic fermentation is not generally carried out to preserve the freshness and vibrant acidity typical of Trebbiano d'Abruzzo, but in some interpretations it can be partially induced to add roundness. Trebbiano d'Abruzzo di Marramiero, thanks to its good acidity and mineral structure, has an interesting aging potential, generally between 3 and 5 years or even longer for the most suitable vintages and particular selections. During this period, it can evolve by developing greater aromatic complexity, with the emergence of notes of dried fruit, honey and hydrocarbons, while maintaining a pleasant freshness.
Bright straw yellow color with greenish reflections, indicative of freshness and youth. With the evolution in the bottle, it can tend to more intense golden tones. On the nose it presents itself with a complex and fine bouquet, characterized by notes of white pulp fruit (apple, pear), citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon), white flowers (hawthorn, broom) and mineral hints (flint). Any aging in wood can add delicate notes of vanilla and hazelnut. The intensity and olfactory persistence are generally of good finesse and elegance. In the mouth, the wine stands out for a lively and well-integrated acidity, which gives freshness and drinkability. The structure is medium, with a pleasant mineral flavor that contributes to the length of the finish. The fruity and floral notes perceived on the nose are found again, with a good aromatic persistence and a sensation of cleanliness and harmony. The balance between acidity, flavor and body is a distinctive element.
