Muffato della Sala is a wine that comes from the vineyards of the Castello della Sala. Thanks to the late harvest to the effect of a noble rot (Botritis), at the time of fermentation the grapes are very rich in sugars and particular aromas. The result is an elegant dessert wine with a very intense bauquet.
The Muffato della Sala dei Marchesi Antinori was born on the Castello della Sala estate, near Orvieto, in Umbria.
It is produced with Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Grechetto, Traminer and Riesling grapes, harvested and selected entirely by hand after the bunches left to dry on the plant, have been attacked by the noble rot, Botrytis cinerea. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of about 17 ° C for 18 days. Subsequently the wine ages for 6 months in French oak barriques, before being bottled.
Golden yellow in color, it opens to the nose with intense floral aromas with fresh citrus notes and hints of honey. On the palate it is pleasantly aromatic and well balanced.
