Catullo

Bertani is an historic wine brand recognized in Italy and abroad, whose history dates back to 1857 when the brothers Giovan Battista and Gaetano Bertani founded the winery in Quinto di Valpantena, today a fraction of Verona. In 1957, exactly 100 years after its foundation, the winery acquired the Tenuta Novare in Valpolicella Classica, located in a sort of natural amphitheater surrounded by woods with an extension of 190 hectares of which 62 are planted with vineyards. Today Bertani is synonymous with identity, typicality and style, elements common to all the labels produced exported all over the world.

The Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Catullo Bertani is produced from Veronese corvina, corvinone, rondinella grapes from over 20-year-old vines planted on marl-limestone soils, with clayey deposits. The typical characteristic of the Valpolicella Superiore DOC is that of fermenting again on the skins of the Amarone Classico and the Catullo in March is embellished with new substance. The refinement takes place in 75 hectoliter French oak barrels as well as a further year in 100 hectoliter cement tanks; last refinement takes place in the bottle for at least 6 months.

The Valpolicella Ripasso Classico Superiore Catullo Bertani is a pleasant, balanced wine and a good complexity with marked notes of cherries, black cherries, vanilla and chocolate with a persuasive and silky palate thanks to the soft tannins. A good persistence completes the drink.
