Bourbon Finish Caol Ila 2010

"Caol Ila" is the Gaelic name for "Sound of Islay", the strait that separates the island of Islay to Jura in the west coast of Scotland. The distillery, located on the coast of Sound, was founded by Hector Henderson in 1846. Over time it has changed ownership several times: it was purchased in 1854 by Norman Buchanan, in 1863 by Bulloch Lade & Compagny and in 1920 by a group of men business which formed the "Coal Ila Distillery Company Ltd". In 1930 the property passed to the Scottish Malt Distilleries.

The Signatory Vintage by Andrew Symington was founded in 1988 with the purchase of a Cask then sold in Japan. He later developed its business both in the UK market and around the world by becoming the leading breeders of the great Single Malts. In 2002 and in 2003 received the prestigious award of "Best indipendent Bottler" by The Whiskey Magazine. The range of selections has grown over time, and Andrew has specialized in the bottling of Single Cask 43%, 46% or Cask Strength. The recent auction of its products have seen a significant appreciation of the value reflecting a steady increase in interest in the rare Single Malts.
