Timorasso is a vine native to the province of Alessandria, a quality white grape, primarily cultivated in the Curone, Grue, Ossona and Val Borbera, in an area where the vine is a valuable habitat due to the terrain, the long sunshine and the position sheltered from the winds.
Derthona is the emblem of Timorasso, a historic white grape variety of Piedmont. Vigneti Massa is responsible for the recovery of these grapes and their enhancement: since the 1980s the farm has relaunched the vine to highlight the great potential of its territory in the white wine sector. Derthona is one of the quality whites that best represent Piedmont.
Derthona owes its characteristics mainly to the grapes, of which it retains important aspects. Those of Timorasso have medium-large, compact clusters, with spherical berries and fleshy pulp; productivity is quite inconstant but they have good resistance to atmospheric agents and diseases. Their harvest is manual, in boxes and the vinification takes place exclusively in steel.
Straw yellow in color, Vigneti Massa's Derthona gives the nose pleasant floral fragrances. It has a good structure; in the mouth it is savory, mineral and fresh.
Derthona is an excellent white as an aperitif, but it also goes well with meals if based on fish, vegetables or cold cuts. We recommend a serving temperature of 12 ° -13 ° C.
