Greco di Tufo

Ciro Picariello's wine adventure began in 2004 in the heart of Irpinia in Summonte together with his partner Rita Guerriero. Todays the vineyards extend for about 15 hectares between Summonte and Montefredane, on different altitudes respectively, between 650 and 500 meters above sea level, on predominantly volcanic soils that are more rocky in the first case, and more clayey in the second. Different terroir and exposures that give life to unique wines with a strong personality. The production philosophy is based on environmental sustainability, without the use of herbicides and pesticides, according to an obsessive care that has given life to excellent labels based on native varieties such as Fiano, Greco, Falanghina, among those with white grapes, and Piedirosso, Aglianico and Sciascianoso among the red berried ones. Wines with a strong minerality and an enjoyable freshness that express the most authentic taste of Irpinia.

The Greco di Tufo DOP by Ciro Picariello is obtained from Greco grapes grown at 500 meters above sea level on clayey soils. In the white vinification process, the must is cooled to 8 ° C for 24 hours, while the fermentation is at a controlled temperature of 12/13 ° C for about 60 days. The refinement takes place in stainless steel tanks with repeated batonages for 8 months, with a further maturation period in the bottle of 3 months before marketing. A fresh and mineral wine, which can be drunk one glass after another.
